Coventry Hosts 200+ Events This July: Festivals, Theatre, Film, Concerts

Coventry is in the thick of a vibrant summer arts season, with the free outdoor festival 'Streets of Cov' drawing crowds to the city centre and the Belgrade Theatre preparing for West End-calibre productions later this month. The city boasts more than 200 concerts, festivals and tour dates across 2026, according to organisers.

Streets of Cov Brings Free Theatre to the City Centre

The 'Streets of Cov' festival, now in full swing, features 34 performances by 20 different companies across six weekends of Fridays and Saturdays. Venues include Coventry Cathedral and Broadgate, making it easy for residents and visitors to stumble upon a show while exploring the city. The programme is free and open to all, offering a mix of street theatre, circus and dance that spills out onto the pavements.

On Saturday July 18, a highlight is the 'Lord of the Rings' film music concert, a breathtaking orchestral performance at a city-centre venue. The day before, on July 17, a 'Steelpan' beginner workshop gave locals the chance to try their hand at the Caribbean steel drum. Both events underscore Coventry's ambition to offer something for every taste, from epic film scores to hands-on music sessions.

Belgrade Theatre and Warwick Arts Centre Keep the Curtain Up

The Belgrade Theatre, a cornerstone of Coventry's cultural scene, is scheduled to host award-winning West End-run productions from July 25 to 27, 2026. The theatre, located on Corporation Street, regularly draws audiences from across the West Midlands and beyond.

Further afield, the Warwick Arts Centre, just a short bus ride from the city centre, is presenting cutting-edge contemporary dance and immersive family storytelling. Its programme runs until July 27 for the dance performances and continues through August 4 for family-friendly events. The centre, part of the University of Warwick, is known for pushing boundaries in the performing arts.

A Packed Year of Festivals and Concerts

Beyond this month's offerings, Coventry's 2026 calendar is stacked with major events. The Godiva Festival, a staple of the city's summer, and MotoFest, which celebrates motoring and engineering, are among the headline acts.
